DAVID C. SALO, Ph.D. - DIRECTOR
Coach Salo is the long-time former Head Coach of the Novaquatics Swim Team and founding Head Coach of the Soka University Swim Team. In 2006, Coach Salo was appointed Head Coach of the University of Southern California Swimming & Diving Teams. Dave is a two-time USA Olympic Coach and has also been a member of the USA Coaching Staff for Goodwill Games, Pan American Games and served as the Head Coach of the 2005 USA World Championship Men's Team and 2007 USA Pan American Games Men's Team. Dave also served as Head Coach of the victorious USA Men's team which beat the Australian National team in the 2005 Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool. Coach Salo placed eight swimmers on the past three USA Olympic teams including Aaron Peirsol, Jason Lezak, Amanda Beard, Staciana Stitts, Lenny Krayzelburg, Gabe Woodward, Colleen Lanne and Gabrielle Rose. In 2005, Coach Salo guided Jessica Hardy to a World Record Performance in the 100 meter breaststroke at the World Championships. In 2008, Coach Salo and his Trojan Swim Club placed three swimmers on the USA Olympic Team and coached an additional 6 swimmers that represented their home countries at the Beijing Olympic Games. Salo's athletes included Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder, Rebecca Soni and Olympic Gold Medalist Ous Mellouli who captured the 1500 meter freestyle in Beijing. In addition, Larsen Jensen swam to a Bronze Medal and American Record in the 400 meter freestyle. Coach Salo was nominated for the Golden Goggle Awards for Coach of the Year in 2008.  With a minimum of eight
registered swimmers from the same team, we offer room and board for one accompanying coach. The accompanying coach will be rewarded with an opportunity to work with Coaches Urbanchek and Salo during the camp and take
part in the evening coaches forum.
